Bahá’í National Fund Update

$4M

as of June 17, 2025

It is with great joy that the Office of the Treasurer would like to share the goal set by the National Spiritual Assembly for this fiscal year - $52M. We join the community of the Champion Builders of the World Order of Baha'u'llah to work toward achieving this vital goal. As quoted in the Feast Letter for the Feast of Rahmat, we are reminded of the words of the House of Justice:

The challenge facing the institutions of the Faith is to manage the available funds with such skill, economy, and wisdom that the greatest benefit is derived from them. The challenge facing the rank and file of the believers is to sacrificially provide the means wherewith their institutions are to carry on the work.”

The letter further reminds us that “The American Bahá’í community has an impressive legacy of giving, even during periods of financial difficulty, and has marshaled its spirit of sacrifice at the hour of need to ensure that the progress of the Divine Plan is not hampered by a lack of adequate funds. We have every confidence that the cherished friends in this God-chosen community will arise to meet the material requirements of the Faith, as they have done so consistently in the past.

How can we, individually and collectively, 'ensure that the progress of the Divine Plan is not hampered’?

Unrestricted (not earmarked) contributions towards the National Fund goal allow for flexibility in supporting the many activities of the Faith.

“ALL MUST SURGE, BUT THE YOUTH MUST SOAR"

The Universal House of Justice, Ridván 2024

We recently received this insightful letter from Washington State:

As a first-year medical resident, I spend each day caring for others in a fast-paced and often challenging environment. Despite the intensity of the work, I’ve found deep meaning in approaching my role as an act of service. The Bahá’í teaching that work performed in the spirit of service is a form of worship has become more real to me than ever. Whether I’m comforting a patient, coordinating care, or simply offering a moment of kindness, I try to remember that every effort can contribute to the greater good. This perspective has helped me stay grounded and spiritually connected, even during the most demanding moments.

Yet I’ve come to understand that personal service alone is not enough to bring about the transformation envisioned in the Bahá’í writings. The Bahá’í Fund is a vital channel through which the spiritual and material resources of our community are directed toward building the foundations of a divine civilization. It supports initiatives that promote unity, education, and social progress, efforts that must be sustained and expanded through our collective support. Contributing to the Fund, no matter the amount, allows each of us to participate in this greater mission. As youth, developing the habit of regular, sacrificial giving alongside acts of service helps align our lives with the spiritual principles we hold dear. My own experience in medicine has shown me that individual effort, when supported by a united and resourceful community, can become a powerful force for healing and transformation.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

A Tax-Wise Way to Give from the Heart

“An individual Bahá'í is, of course, free to contribute to charity from his own resources if he wishes, but as a Bahá'í he should bear in mind the needs of the Bahá'í Fund, which only believers can support.” - The Universal House of Justice: From a letter to a Local Spiritual Assembly, March 19, 1973

For friends age 70½ and older, you have a unique opportunity to support the sacred work of the Faith in a way that is both spiritually uplifting and financially wise. Through what is known as the IRA Charitable Rollover, you may offer a gift directly from your Traditional IRA to the National Spiritual Assembly. This heartfelt form of giving not only advances the vital work of the Cause—it may also carry tax benefits, as such contributions are not counted as taxable income.

To learn more about the IRA charitable rollover, planned giving, or to arrange a presentation through your Local Spiritual Assembly, visit bahaitreasurer.us/planned-giving, email plannedgiving@usbnc.org, or call 847-733-3569.
