As of December 7, 2025, a total of $23.5 million has been contributed toward the National Fund goal of $52 million for the current Bahá’í fiscal year, which ends on April 30, 2026, less than five months away. Every contribution —financial, service, prayer— strengthens the Institution of the Fund, fortifying our ability to provide the material resources required to support the goals of the Nine Year Plan. The event was called Pause for the Cause. It included a barbecue, a pie auction, a karaoke “bid for your friend to sing a song”, and painting with Milly, for friends to learn how to paint a beautiful picture. Over $... was raised in just under three hours. Friends enjoyed fellowship and all of the artistic activities. One friend said she had never painted anything and found the painting activity “fun and relaxing.” I hope this inspires other communities to organize such an event! "Each request that our faithful National Spiritual Assembly puts forth to us in the form of the yearly Fund goal becomes a concrete opportunity to participate in the tremendous vision of Bahá’u’lláh’s World Order. So fortunate are we to be able to participate! Such a gift is beyond our comprehension at this time. As Ridvan and the completion of this year's Fund goal of $50 million approach, we in Eliot, Maine chose to dig deep and host a fundraiser to include our neighboring communities of Kittery, York and the “Berwicks.” We all feel blessed to have Green Acre in our midst and take seriously our responsibility to further the Faith in whatever way we are able. The committee that was formed to host the fundraiser wished to include the expression of happiness and joy in the act of giving. So the committee chose to have a bingo party and a lovely potluck luncheon for the occasion! Our community also hosted a Feast that morning. It was a big day of much activity and it all worked well! Everyone was happy and ready to partake in the fun! Eliot and the surrounding communities are fortunate to have many children, junior youth and youth. Everyone seemed to be there. Children showed up in their best clothes, shoes, and some with their stuffed animals in tow. The full spectrum of our community attended, including the moms, dads, singles, grandparents, and elders. This was a joy to behold! Friends and families sat together in great anticipation of winning, and it was so much fun to see the smiles, laughs, and the playful carrying-on. Everyone had a smile on their face! The bingo game was set up such that those who won a game could be the first to choose a prize from the prize table. The table was full of items that would suit different age groups. All items were donated from closets or storage bins, in excellent condition: jewelry, stuffed animals, coloring books, cups and dishware, games, arts and craft projects, etc. At the end, all were invited to choose whatever they liked from the remaining items. People left carrying their gifts like treasures indeed. The potluck luncheon was a sight to behold as well. Those contributing food did their best to please. In the end, everyone was happy and joyous. The general consensus was that “We should do this again next year!” In total, the fundraiser collected $… for our National Fund!!! We were all quite astounded! This success is encouraging us all the more to hold another fundraiser, perhaps in 6 months. Several communities gathered together to participate as a community. We estimate that over 1,200 Friends from all around the country participated in the March 6th webinar and a replay that was hosted on March 16th. We continue to receive great feedback regarding the webinars, including: The stories the beautiful youth shared and the story of the mother who took up teaching were so inspirational and heartfelt. Pierre's points on reading the reality of the cluster and the unity of vision were amazing, along with the support their team received. The vision of changing the circumstances of a person is far more valuable than the currency, and this touched my heart. Very well done! I seriously sat at the edge of my chair trying to take in every ounce of wisdom and spiritual insights that were being shared. How I longed to have the rest of my community with me. Thank God you will be showing it again as I want to invite those friends who do not have internet access. Bless you all for your priceless service. Cold and rainy days were warmed by the loving atmosphere of devoted hosts and friends. Hearts were uplifted by inspiring stories and insights shared by the National Treasurer, Dr. Robert Henderson, and the Director of the Persian Bahá'í Media Service, Mrs. Sana Rouhani. Through the generosity of the friends, these gatherings resulted in contributions exceeding $150,000, bringing us closer to the $1.7 million goal for this initiative, which is part of the $50 million National Fund goal. Through the loving support of the Friends from across the American Bahá'í Community, we have already reached approximately $1 million toward this vital endeavor. These gatherings continue to remind us that the Persian Bahá'í Media Service is far more than an initiative that provides videos, media, and information—it is ---- of the heart transforming lives and connecting hearts. The honor of supporting this sacred path of service has been entrusted to the Bahá’ís in the United States by the beloved Universal House of Justice. One of the many highlights of this memorable weekend was the gathering of the youth from the area with one of the Continental Counselors and all nine members of the National Spiritual Assembly. During this special evening, several of the youth shared heartfelt and moving stories of how the Regional Training Institute had impacted them personally. One of the youth who had recently found the Bahá’í Faith and has been participating in the activities at the Institute shared: “It has transformed my heart, not only how I live my life when tests arise, but also how I see tests… I now see their purpose in purifying our hearts, helping us grow. Being surrounded by loving and supportive friends here and their prayers keeps me from being discouraged.” Another youth joyfully shared about the “amazing friendships” formed during youth camps and “the Baháʼí family” he had gained, adding he was “eternally grateful.” Another youth who had also found the Faith during the recent years talked about the feeling of community and how much she had learned from studying the Writings, serving together with other youth, going on home visits, and assisting with children’s classes. The National Secretary, National Treasurer, and Persian BMS Director graciously served as the keynote speakers. Over 95 participants attended the event which began with a performance by Luke Slott, a talented musician from Ireland. The gathering was warm, loving, and deeply spiritual. Many attendees expressed that it was one of the highlights of the conference for them. As a result of this event, to date, approximately $500,000 has been generously contributed toward the $1.5M annual budget set for the Persian BMS. This budget represents the minimum amount of funds necessary to support this vital work. One of the most beautiful aspects of these educational gatherings is the ongoing collaboration that continues beyond the in-person presentations. After working closely with the Local Assembly or Regional Council, the education team remains engaged in reflections, consultation, and collaboration with the Institution on the work of effectively disseminating the learnings throughout the community. This ongoing partnership not only enhances our collective understanding but also strengthens the bonds of love and friendship, ultimately benefiting the broader community. A wonderful example of this collaboration was the recent engagement of the Office of the Treasurer with the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’ís of Houston. Inspired by the educational workshops held in Houston back in October of 2023, particularly the session on 'Elements of Spiritual Fundraising,' the Assembly took concrete steps to share the learnings with their community and actively encouraged additional fundraising efforts to support the National Fund. They shared a moving story from a recent fundraiser held as a result, which beautifully captured the spiritual essence of the workshops. They invited each member of their community to bring a photo of a loved one who had passed away, and together, they offered prayers for the progress of their souls. In memory of their loved ones, members were encouraged to contribute to the Fund. This heartfelt initiative resulted in strengthening the bonds of fellowship and love within the community as well as providing a considerable contribution to the Fund. This example serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and the profound impact when we continue to work together in the spirit of unity and love. Over a thousand souls joined the webinar online and enjoyed the beautiful flute music shared by Alvin Bitsilly, which was followed by a presentation by two members of the National Spiritual Assembly, Mrs. Nanabah Foguth and Dr. Robert C. Henderson. Following the presentations, Nabil & Karim shared a heartfelt performance, followed by a question and answer session. We were delighted to hear that many of the Friends joined the webinar in small groups, including several of the Friends who joined from the Indianapolis, Indiana Bahá’í Center, another group who gathered in the Bahá’í Center in Austin, Texas, and several community members who came together at NABI (the Native American Bahá’í Institute). The presentations echoed the themes of the 28 November letter from the Universal House of Justice as they are reflected in the American Bahá’í Community and called our attention to the inspiring proof it gives that the society-building mission of the Nine-Year Plan is achievable. We were reminded of the remarkable spiritual journey that has brought us to this point in Bahá’í history - a pivotal time that calls upon us to "reawaken the spirit for which we were created and to begin to build vibrant and vital communities… now is the time, as the House of Justice tells us, that we must assume responsibility and to engage everyone in our communities and throughout our nation in the process of society building.” Our hearts were also lifted through the touching images and history of the Native American Bahá’í Insitute, which serves as a powerful example of this process of transformation. The hearts of the Friends responded, and as a result, approximately $200k has been raised thus far toward the $48M National Fund goal for this fiscal year. Previously, the National Spiritual Assembly initiated a project to reconstruct the old publishing trust building and create a new permanent National Archives in order to create a more befitting and more protective location to house all these precious items and to keep them safe for the next thousand years so that Bahá’ís could visit them and researchers and scholars would be able to study the original papers or tablets. In developing the plans for the building, it was discovered that the structure was too narrow to accommodate the required preservation equipment. The amount of space needed for the equipment and the cost of the modifications needed to the building has made it impracticable to move forward with the original plans. In consultation with the Universal House of Justice, the National Spiritual Assembly has decided to put the bulk of the easily preserved archive items in a nearby building for now and to keep an archive unit in the Temple itself so that for conventions, meetings, and for visitors and researchers, some items are readily available and easily accessible. Meanwhile, search will continue for an adequate permanent home for the archives. As the National Treasurer shared in his recent letter to the Bahá’í community, “Ours is the responsibility to build a system of institutions and a way of life that restores the faith, trust, and confidence lost by so many Americans and that works to advance our country toward its destiny to establish unity and peace among all the nations." The webinars are designed to support Treasurers and their assistants in further enhancing and developing their capacity of trustworthy stewardship of the Funds of the Faith and educating the community about the spiritual rewards and responsibilities related to contributing to those Funds. These sessions are also structured to orient the Friends to their role and assist the Institution to gain a deeper understanding of the role in the context of the Nine-Year Plan. In previous sessions, this series would mainly focus on an overview of available tools and resources for Fund education and stewardship of the Funds. This year the focus included themes related to the teaching Plan, specifically the importance of the role of the Local Assembly, the Local Treasurer, and the strength of the Local Fund - as these two are among the key cornerstones of the administrative foundation needed to release the society-building power of the Cause of God. This first of the webinar series included a short presentation from the National Treasurer, followed by introduction of some of the materials and resources available to treasurers for organizing the work ahead, and an opportunity to ask questions. The Office of the Treasurer is looking at expanding the training for treasurers through offering additional sessions in the coming months to allow for continued learning and collaboration with the office, as well as with other local assemblies, and a more in-depth look at topics such as fund education, budgeting, and audits. As a result, questions and requests for guidance have come from the Friends about unrestricted giving. In a letter to a Regional Council, the National Spiritual Assembly recently offered some guidance that may assist many believers who might have questions about the topic of unrestricted giving. Below is an excerpt from that message: “It is important to bear in mind that the National Assembly’s guidance on the priority of unrestricted contributions to the National Bahá’í Fund and the freedom to earmark has not changed. Over the years the Assembly noticed that earmarking had become a larger percentage of the annual contributions, leaving the unrestricted funds insufficient to meet the operating requirements of the National Assembly. As a result, the Assembly felt it was timely to remind the friends of the importance of meeting the National Fund goal with unrestricted contributions. However, the emphasis on the priority of unrestricted contributions does not alter the principle of the freedom to earmark. To shed further light on your questions, we have included an excerpt from the document entitled, Strengthening the Financial System, Select Working Documents prepared by the Office for the Development of Administrative Systems at the Bahá’í World Centre—May 2023. On the question of unrestricted contributions and earmarking, the guidance states: “The contributions of the friends can be given to the Fund at the local, national, or continental level. We are sharing the message here as well for your reflection and consideration as we all continue the work of advancing the grand vision of the the Nine-Year Plan: Dear Bahá’í Friends, The fragrance of the Holy Land and the experience of the Bahá’í International Convention still dominate our hearts. There, we witnessed the astonishing growth of the Bahá’í World. One hundred and seventy-six National Spiritual Assemblies gathered to elect the Universal House of Justice. Communities founded, in most cases, by pioneers inspired by the vision of the Divine Plan, with little by way of resources or help, who are now striking examples of the power of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá’s “grand design for the spiritual conquest of the planet.” They now represent virtually every people on earth, and in them one can see the fulfillment of the biblical prophecy of the ascendency of the meek, united with one heart, with the Name of God stamped on their foreheads. They, like you, are the treasures of the earth promised to Bahá’u’lláh in the Syáh-Chál, who will be the instruments of the triumph of His Faith, bringing new life to beleaguered souls in every land. The stories they told in the consultations of the Convention gave ample evidence that the past series of Plans have equipped the global Bahá’í community with an “undreamt of capacity to learn and grow” and positioned the friends for the mission of “releasing the society-building powers of the Faith in ever greater measures.” Ours is the privilege to stand with them in the grand enterprise of the Nine Year Plan, working to revitalize the “inner life and social environment” of our country and the world. The level of commitment demonstrated by the American believers in spite of the economic challenge facing our Nation has been a source of inspiration as well as a noteworthy confirmation. Throughout the year, many notes with stories of love and sacrifice reached the Office of the Treasurer from the community. These stories reflected a community of friends whose love for Bahá’u’lláh is strong - with an “expansive view” - a capacity described by the Supreme Body as an ability to see how the full spectrum of current activities will, in time, have a vital and lasting impact on the transformation of society. We made it.” The joy and love that emanated from her immediately gave new meaning to the achievement of the goal of the National Bahá’í Fund, which had just occurred the day right before the Celebration. The Friends were reminded about the National Assembly’s message, which called attention to the “spasms of conflict and division” that are influencing every sector of American life, and the sharp contrast with the vision of America’s destiny so clearly stated in the Bahá’í Writings and the bold vision laid out in the Nine Year Plan. We asked every Local Assembly to encourage the Friends to participate universally in support of the National Fund goal, to pray for its achievement, and to initiate fund-raising activities of whatever kind to help in this effort. Since then, we have been delighted and awestruck by the beautiful response of this Community! Many stories of devotion, generosity, sacrifice, and pure joy have reached our Office, illustrating many efforts of Friends who have arisen to the task of achieving the goal. The level of resilience shown through the efforts of the Friends cannot be overstated as it shows a high level of commitment to the transformative Vision of the Nine-Year Plan and the beautiful future that lies ahead. The Office of the Treasurer also notes with delight the participation of 935-plus souls in the two virtual town halls offered in March as part of the “Love that Binds: raising vibrant communities” Campaign. The first of these gatherings was held toward the end of the Fasting season, on the 18th of March, and the second was held on March 28th. The goal of these gatherings was very simple, yet important: to explore the mission of the Nine-Year Plan, “The release of the society-building power of the Faith in ever-greater measures,” in light of the current social condition of the world - the disheartening conflict and division that is impacting every level of American life - and to orient our focus to the hopeful vision outlined in the Bahá’í Writings about the destiny of our Nation which stands in stark contrast to prevalent views. The presentation also shed light on the work ahead and a need to further strengthen our capacity as individual believers, as local communities, and as institutions of the Faith and the implications of all of these elements on the Funds of the Faith.
